Newcastle United FC is an English professional football club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear. The club was founded in 1892 and currently plays in the Premier League, the first tier of English football. Newcastle United have a long and successful history, having won the FA Cup six times, the Football League Championship four times, the UEFA Intertoto Cup once, and the UEFA Inter-Cities Fairs Cup once. The club have also been runners-up in the FA Cup and Football League Championship on six occasions each. Newcastle United have a fierce rivalry with neighbouring Sunderland, with whom they contest the Tyne–Wear derby, and are renowned for their passionate fan base and vocal home support.
Rotherham United Football Club is an English professional football club based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The club competes in League One, the third tier of the English football league system. Nicknamed "The Millers", the club was founded in 1925 and initially played in the Midland League. They joined the Football League in 1925 and have since spent all but one season in the English football league system.
Rotherham United have played in a number of different leagues, including the Football League Second Division, Football League Third Division, Football League Second Division, Football League One and Football League Championship. The club's home ground is the New York Stadium, which has been their home since 2012.
The club also participates in a number of cup competitions, including the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. The club's most successful period came from 1996 to 1998 when they won promotion to the Football League First Division, and reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1996.
