Founded in 1905, the club play their home matches at The Valley in south-east London. The club is nicknamed the Addicks, and their traditional kit consists of red shirts, white shorts and white socks. Nicknamed the Addicks, Charlton have a long-standing rivalry with nearby Crystal Palace and Millwall. The club's most successful period was from the late 1940s to the mid-1960s, when they achieved two consecutive promotions to the highest level of English football, and won the FA Cup in 1947.
