The club currently competes in the Eredivisie, the top flight of Dutch football, and is one of the country's most successful clubs, having won the KNVB Cup in 1985 and the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2016. FC Utrecht was founded in 1970 and currently plays their home matches at Stadion Galgenwaard.
