The club was founded in 2009 by the initiative of the energy drink manufacturer Red Bull and currently plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. The club has been a dominant force in the Bundesliga since their promotion to the league in 2016, and have qualified for the UEFA Champions League on three occasions. They are known for their high-pressing and attacking style of play, which has yielded impressive results in the league and in European competitions.
