AS Roma is an Italian professional football club based in Rome. Founded by a merger in 1927, Roma have participated in the top-tier of Italian football for all of their existence. Roma have won Serie A three times, in 1941–42, 1982–83 and 2000–01, as well as winning nine Coppa Italia titles and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. In European competitions, Roma won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1960–61 and were runners-up in the 1983–84 European Cup and the 1990–91 UEFA Cup. Sporting CP FC is a professional football club based in Lisbon, Portugal. Founded in 1906, the club has competed in the Primeira Liga, the top flight of Portuguese football, for the majority of its existence. Sporting are the third most successful club in the country in terms of trophies won, behind only Benfica and Porto. They have won the Primeira Liga 18 times, the Taça de Portugal 24 times, and the Taça da Liga 3 times. They have also won a number of regional trophies, including the Campeonato de Lisboa 31 times. Sporting's most famous players include Luis Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Nani.
