The team was founded in 1949 as a youth team and joined the Japan Football League in 2007. The club has enjoyed success in the regional leagues, winning the Kantō Soccer League in 2008 and the Chūbu Regional League in 2010 and 2011. The club was promoted to the J2 League in 2012 and stayed in the division until 2016, when they were relegated back to the J3 League.

Established in 1968, Shonan Bellmare has had a mixed history with periods of success and relegation. The club's colors are blue and yellow, and they play their home matches at the Shonan BMW Stadium Hiratsuka.
